  • Should I choose a specific or a generic food for my pet?

    In the interests of promoting your pet's health, it is recommended you choose a formula that meets your pet's specific needs, based on the following criteria :

     

    • Age: puppy or kitten, adult or senior
    • Size: small, medium or large (dog breeds)
    • Physical condition: growing, maintenance, overweight, pet with allergies, working dog, pregnant cat, cat with a tendency to get hairballs, etc.

  • How do I introduce a new brand or type of food to my pet?

    When you must change your brand or type of pet food, you should progressively introduce the new brand by giving your pet a small quantity of the new food and slowly increase its amount while reducing the amount of the old food. This transition period may last anywhere from 7 to 10 days.

    Progressively introducing a new brand of food will avoid having your pet suffer from digestive problems.

  • What is the shelf life of 1st Choice food products?

    All 1st Choice formulas have a shelf life of 16 months. The expiration date is written on the back of each packaging.

  • Is there a difference in the size of the daily serving of a superior quality brand and a cheaper brand?

    The amount of the serving sizechanges from one product or brand to the next. Foods providing greater levels of metabolizable energy are served in smaller portions. Generally, portions are smaller for higher quality brands than lower quality brands.
